Glebe Hill is shaping up as the eastern shore’s newest fast-food strip, with a Hungry Jack’s having opened at the precinct on Friday.
The burger chain is part of a $7.5 million development that also includes a KFC and a service station on the same site.
The plans were first lodged with the Clarence City Council in April 2024 and approved the following month.
The site sits next to the Glebe Hill Village shopping centre, which opened in 2022 with a McDonald’s, Coles supermarket and other stores.

The Hungry Jack’s, on Commerce Drive, trades from 6am to 11pm and employs about 65 people.
It is the chain’s first store on Hobart’s eastern shore and has self-service kiosks, a shared dining area and a drive-thru.

Hungry Jack’s Tasmanian general manager George Chrisan said the location filled a gap for eastern shore customers.
“We know there’s a bit of friendly rivalry between the eastern and western shore, so we’re excited that Tassies will no longer have to cross the bridge to get their hands on their flame-grilled favourites,” he said.
The chain will next open an outlet at Hobart Airport once an upgraded terminal is finished in early 2027, employing about 50 people.
That store is part of a $200 million terminal expansion that will double the size of the departures area, add seating and build a new arrivals corridor.
