Overwhelming demand has prompted organisers to add a third Ice Hockey Classic game in Hobart, with tickets for the Canada versus USA series selling faster than expected.
The additional match will be held on Thursday July 2 at MyState Bank Arena, joining the originally planned games on July 3 and 4.
Ice Hockey Classic Director Kerry Goulet said the response from Tasmanians had exceeded all expectations.
“We’ve been blown away by the support from Tasmania,” Goulet said.

“The response to pre-sale has been incredible and we’re thrilled to add a third game so more fans have the opportunity to experience this rivalry live.”
MyState Bank Arena General Manager Renee Brown said the demand “was unlike anything the venue had seen”.

“The demand we’ve seen for the Ice Hockey Classic has been unprecedented for MyState Bank Arena,” Brown said.
“Tickets have been selling at an exceptional rate and it’s clear there is a huge appetite in Tasmania for events of this scale and quality.”
The series will bring elite North American players to Hobart for the first time, marking international ice hockey’s debut in Tasmania.
With pre-sales nearly exhausting available seats, hockey fans are being urged to secure tickets quickly when general sales open this morning.

Tickets for all three games are available through Ticketek.
