Incat Tasmania has taken out the 2026 Tasmanian Exporter of the Year award at the 32nd Tasmanian Export Awards Gala Dinner in Launceston on Friday night.
The Hobart-based shipbuilder was recognised for its work delivering battery-electric and hybrid-electric vessels to markets around the world.
Minister for Small Business, Trade and Consumer Affairs Guy Barnett congratulated the company, calling it one of the state’s most recognisable success stories on the global stage.
“Incat is a global leader in sustainable shipbuilding, delivering high-quality battery-electric and hybrid-electric vessels from right here in our State,” Barnett said.
“People around the world have been captivated by the story of Hull 096 – the world’s largest electric ship ever built – and its journey to South America.”
Barnett said the awards were a chance to celebrate businesses taking Tasmanian products, services and expertise to international markets.
He pointed to the latest ABS trade data showing Tasmania’s annual goods exports had risen to more than $5 billion, growing at more than double the national rate.
Incat also won the Manufacturing and Advanced Materials category.
Other national category winners included Bitwise Agronomy for Digital and Smart Technologies, Tasmanian Quality Meats for Agribusiness, Food and Beverages and Scootboot for Creative, Lifestyle and Design.
East Arm Resources took out the Emerging Exporter award, while Pivot Maritime International won International Education and Training.
Lightning Protection International won Professional Services, Australian Longline Fishing won Regional Exporter and Tidetech won Small Business.
The Udder Way was recognised in the Sustainability and Green Economy category.
State winners will progress to the national Australian Export Awards finals in Canberra later this year.
