A teenager was taken into custody on Tuesday after allegedly assaulting several people with a screwdriver on a busy Howrah street.
The 15-year-old is accused of verbally and physically confronting people on Clarence Street around 9:55am yesterday.
Police allege the teenager threatened one person with the tool before running off with another youth.
The pair were located at the nearby Wentworth Park a short time later and arrested.
The young girl has since been charged with assault and will appear in the Youth Justice Court at a later date.
The other teenager was released without charge.
“No one was physically injured during the incident,” a spokesperson said.
“Police thank members of the community for swiftly contacting police to allow a quick resolution of the incident.”
