Irish downhill mountain biker Ronan Dunne has won Tasmania’s inaugural Red Bull Hardline event this weekend.
Known as the “world’s toughest downhill MTB race”, the Maydena event marked a significant milestone as the first of its kind in Australia.
A sold-out crowd of around 5,000 excited fans gathered at the finish line to cheer on Dunne as he secured the first-place position on Saturday.
Britain’s Bernard Kerr finished closely behind in second and George Brannigan from New Zealand placed third.

Organisers were thrilled to welcome Canada’s Gracey Hemstreet and Britain’s Louise-Anna Ferguson as the first-ever female riders to compete in the Red Bull Hardline Final, marking a historic moment in the event’s decade-long history.
Despite the excitement, Tasmania’s own Darcy Coutts was sidelined due to an injury, unable to compete among the 27 riders who tackled the challenging track today.
