Tasmania’s leading goalkicker in its first VFLW season, Ava Read, has recommitted to the Devils for 2027.
The 20-year-old played all 14 matches this year and kicked 21 goals.
She averaged 11.4 disposals, 3.4 score involvements and 1.5 goals a game in coach Georgia Walker’s forward line.
Walker is continuing to shape her squad for the club’s second VFLW season after re-signing with the Devils in October on a 12-month contract.

The side finished eighth this year, two places outside the finals.
Read was named in this year’s VFLW Team of the Year squad.

In Tasmania’s first best and fairest count, she finished third with 183 votes, nine behind winner Angelica Clark on 192. Perri King was second with 187.
Read’s re-signing follows those of Clark and Grace White, the first two players to recommit for next season.
Clark, 23, averaged 14.6 disposals, 5.3 clearances and 5.9 tackles a game in the Devils’ midfield.
White, 21, was selected in the VFLW Team of the Year and won Tasmania’s first VFLW Stronger Together Award.

The pair also won a premiership with North Hobart in the SFL this year. White kicked two goals and was named best on ground in the grand final as the Demons won their fourth flag in five years.
