A K-pop spectacular mixing holographic avatars with live dancers is heading to Hobart’s Wrest Point Entertainment Centre in July.
K-Pop Icons is an interactive concert experience that combines large-scale holograms of virtual performers with a live dance crew known as the Dream Team, tapping into the genre’s massive global rise over the past decade.
Inspired by Korea’s global music scene and the Netflix series K-Pop Demon Hunters, the show features songs from major acts including Blackpink, Rosé, BTS, K/DA and Katseye, alongside original virtual groups Saja Boys and Huntr/X.
The Hobart date is part of a nationwide winter school holiday tour, following strong demand from earlier Australian shows.

At the centre of the performance is what producers describe as the world’s first virtual touring K-pop band.
The animated performers are brought to life through holograms, original vocals and elaborate stage design.

Audience participation is a big part of the show, with young fans encouraged to vote for their favourite icon and help “crown” a champion during each performance.
Line producer Anna Anikeyeva said she was thrilled to be bringing the show to families.
“I am beyond excited to bring K-POP ICONS to families across the world,” she said.
“Live theatre has always been important and with the digital world we live in it makes sense to combine both realities in a unique family show.”

Anikeyeva said the show’s appeal was clear even to very young audiences.
“My 3-year-old immediately fell in love with our avatars, her excitement as she caught glimpses of the show’s development was exhilarating,” she said.
“Seeing it through a child’s eyes inspires the wonder and magic of theatre we are bringing to so many.”
Producers describe the tour as a celebration of K-pop’s ability to bring together different generations, cultures and fandoms.
