A popular Kingston Beach venue is rallying community support to save its live music program amid complaints from nearby residents.

The Salty Dog has launched a petition to protect its entertainment offering, saying it supports 80 local jobs and injects more than $150,000 a year into the local music scene.

“The future of our live music program is in jeopardy following a handful of noise complaints from local residents,” the venue said in a social media post.

“Every year we spend in excess of $150,000 on live music performances at the venue, supporting local artists and providing free entertainment for thousands of locals and visitors to the Kingborough area.”

The venue says its events are professionally managed and comply with all council noise restrictions.

They say most shows are held during daylight hours and occur only once or twice a week.

Beyond entertainment, the venue says it supports numerous local suppliers and sponsors grassroots sporting clubs and charities including Make-A-Wish.

The Salty Dog is urging supporters to sign an online petition or visit the venue over the weekend.

“If you value what we bring to the Kingborough LGA and want to see us continue investing in our business and local community, pop in over the weekend and sign our petition,” the venue said.
