The 41-year-old was driving a white Ford Falcon towards Sandfly when he lost control on a left-hand bend, police said.

The car left the road and hit several trees.

The driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, was treated at the scene before being taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital.

Sandfly Road was closed for around three hours while specialist police units examined the scene.

Police are still investigating what caused the crash.

“… Police urge any members of the public who may have witnessed a white 2003 Ford Falcon sedan in the area around the time of the crash to contact Kingston police station quoting ESCAD 474 – 21052026,” a spokesperson said.
