Loaded stolen rifle seized, kilo of ice found in north-west raids

A loaded, allegedly stolen high-powered rifle was among weapons, drugs and cash seized during police raids in the state’s north-west.

The shortened firearm, reported stolen last year, was located during searches of properties on Wednesday.

Police executed warrants at an address, a vehicle and a storage unit in Wynyard, as well as a property at Elliott.

Several boxes of ammunition were seized, along with close to a kilogram of methylamphetamine.

Quantities of MDMA and other illicit substances were also located.

More than $15,000 in cash and suspected stolen property were also seized.

A 36-year-old man has been charged with firearms offences, trafficking a controlled substance and other drug-related offences.

He was refused bail and will appear in court on Thursday.
