Man accused of Montagu Bay murder faces court without plea

A man accused of murdering a woman at a Montagu Bay home has returned to court without entering a plea.

Adam William Reginald Torr, 33, appeared in the Hobart Magistrates Court via video link on Thursday.

He is charged with murdering 25-year-old Georgia Hope.

Torr’s lawyer told Magistrate Reg Marron the defence was still waiting for a report from a forensic psychiatrist who had assessed him.

Police allege detectives attended a Montagu Bay home for a welfare check just before 2:30pm on December 5 last year.

Hope’s body was found inside and the property was declared a crime scene.

Torr was arrested and charged later that night.

The matter was adjourned until August 14, with Torr remanded in custody.
