Police have set up crime scenes at two locations on Hobart’s eastern shore and taken a man into custody after a pedestrian was allegedly shot at this morning.
Crime scenes have been set up at Burtonia Street in Rokeby and at Holmfield Avenue in Clarendon Vale.
Police received a report around 11:30am on Wednesday from a man who said a vehicle had pulled up beside him as he walked near Burtonia Street.
It is alleged one man got out of the vehicle and fired a single shot in the pedestrian’s direction before leaving in the vehicle.
“No one was injured during the incident and police believe the parties involved are known to each other,” a police spokesperson said.
“Police have already located the firearm believed to have been used in the incident and have also located the suspect vehicle, which will undergo examination.”
Bellerive officers and members of the Special Operations Group (SOG) took the man into custody.
Detectives from the South East Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) are continuing the investigation.
Anyone with information, including dashcam or CCTV footage from the Burtonia Street area this morning, is asked to contact police.
