A man has been arrested over an alleged armed robbery in New Town in which a woman was assaulted with a baseball bat.
Police were called to Park Street, north of the Hobart CBD, around 6am on Thursday after reports a woman had been attacked.
Detectives believe the woman was walking near the Tower Motel when two men in a white 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander pulled up beside her.
Police allege the pair got out of the vehicle, assaulted the woman and stole property before driving away.
She was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital with head injuries and remains in a stable condition.
“Police believe the incident was targeted and the parties are known to each other,” a police spokesperson said.
Detectives from the South East Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have since arrested a 35-year-old man over the incident.
Investigators are continuing to search for the second man.
