A Tasmanian man will be sentenced in the Supreme Court in Burnie this week for an alleged attack with a pickaxe-like tool that erupted over an occupied toilet.
Justin Dean Jones pleaded guilty to three counts of assault and destroying property offences earlier this month after he attacked three people in a house he was staying in with a garden tool, similar to a pickaxe.
The victims, including an elderly stroke survivor, were struck multiple times in the head because the toilet was occupied by someone else when he got up.
According to The Advocate, Jones also attacked the older woman’s son and caused wounds to all three individuals – as well as damaging a television, phone, birdcage and a dog crate containing a frightened animal.
Jones threatened to kill all three victims and burn the house down if the police were called.
He was arrested soon after leaving the house and has been in custody since.
Prosecutors said that Jones had anger issues and lost control of his actions during arguments.
He will be sentenced on August 24.
