Marta Dusseldorp will return to the Tasmanian stage in October, starring in the acclaimed psychological drama The Sound Inside at Hobart’s Playhouse Theatre.
The production will see the celebrated actor and producer perform in Adam Rapp’s Tony Award-nominated play alongside emerging actor Griffin McLaughlin.
Helpmann Award-winning director Lee Lewis, known for Prima Facie and The Bleeding Tree, will lead the production.
Dusseldorp said the show offered something audiences are craving.
“There feels like there might be a need for an in-person exchange of storytelling so pure and unadulterated it could be an antidote or even a compliment, of the likes of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey,” she said.
“People together in a room, sharing ideas, fears, hopes and secrets for 80 minutes straight through.”

One of Australia’s most respected performers, Dusseldorp is known for her stage work and screen roles in A Place to Call Home, Janet King, Jack Irish and the Tasmanian drama series Bay of Fires, which she co-created and produced.
The Sound Inside follows the unlikely connection between a reclusive university professor and a gifted but enigmatic student.
As their relationship deepens, an unpublished manuscript, a mystery in the snow and the discovery of a body in a park intertwine to create a gripping narrative that keeps audiences guessing.

Lewis is the former Artistic Director of the Griffin Theatre Company and Queensland Theatre, where she built a reputation for championing bold new Australian writing.
