McDonald’s stores across Tasmania and Australia have been left unable to take orders this evening, meaning Friday night takeaways are off the menu for many.

Pulse understands a global computer server crash means the restaurant giant is unable to take any orders or serve any food.

“McDonald’s restaurants are experiencing an IT issue that’s impacting their ability to process orders,” a McDonald’s spokesperson said.

“Our team is working to rectify the issues as soon as possible and we thank customers for their patience.”

All Tasmanian stores temporarily closed while the systems reset, with outlets across New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Japan also impacted.

In a statement shortly before 11pm on Friday, McDonald’s ruled out one cause of the “technology outage” and confirmed it had impacted all of their restaurants.

“This wasn’t related to a cybersecurity event and most restaurants have now re-opened and are serving up all your faves,” they said.

“A huge thank you to our customers and our hardworking crew for their patience, we’re sorry for the inconvenience.”
