Motorcyclist in hospital with serious injuries after crash on Brooker Highway

A motorcyclist is in a serious condition at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) tonight after his bike collided with a car on the Brooker Highway.

Police and emergency services responded to the Brooker Avenue intersection with Brisbane Street following reports of the collision just after 8:15pm on Tuesday.

The 38-year-old man riding the motorcycle at the time received serious injuries and was taken to the RHH.

The driver of the silver Holden Captiva involved in the crash was uninjured and is assisting police with their investigations.

Images from the incident show the Captiva parked on Brisbane Street with significant damage to its rear left side.

The motorcycle involved, a black Suzuki GSXR 1000 R1, could be seen in the northbound lane of the Brooker, just past the Brisbane Street intersection.

Police say the cause of the collision is not known at this time and remains under investigation.

Anyone who may have seen or has dashcam footage of the motorcycle or the vehicle in the Hobart area prior to the collision is asked to contact police on 131 444 or Crimestoppers anonymously.
