A P-plater has been caught speeding at 127km/h on the Bass Highway near Ulverstone, police say.
Officers detected the 20-year-old Hellyer woman about 4pm on Thursday, August 27.
As a P-plater, she was restricted to 100km/h, putting her 27km/h over her limit.
Sergeant Nigel Sheahan said speed limits were “not a suggestion”.
“They are in place to protect all road users and reduce the likelihood and severity of crashes,” he said.
“P-platers are over represented in fatal and serious crashes.”
“The speed restrictions that apply to P-plate drivers recognise their limited driving experience and are an important safeguard for both novice drivers and the wider community.”
Sheahan said every driver had a role to play in keeping roads safe.
“… Police will continue to take enforcement action against those who put others at risk,” he said.
The woman faces a $372 fine and three demerit points.
