Person avoids serious injury after fall down Launceston embankment

A person was lucky to escape without serious injuries after they fell down an embankment in Launceston yesterday evening.

Emergency services were called to the Blessington Road bridge across the North Esk River at Cora Linn around 7pm on Friday.

Tasmania Fire Service crews from Launceston closed the road to conduct a vertical rescue of the stuck person shortly after.

“Thankfully the person wasn’t seriously injured, but they needed assistance and our vertical rescue team was able to safely retrieve them from below the bridge,” the Tasmania Fire Service said.

The circumstances leading up to the incident remain unknown.
