Specialist teams were called to a property in North-West Tasmania yesterday after a person reportedly dug up ‘old explosive materials’ while gardening.
Police said officers were alerted to the situation in a garden on Wynyard’s Goldie Street shortly after the discovery.

At the time, Police said there was no threat to the broader community but did establish a small perimeter around the explosives as a precaution.
The situation has since been resolved and the hazardous item has been safely removed for disposal.
The origin and nature of the explosive materials remains unknown.
