A 57-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital after crashing his trail bike on Tasmania’s remote West Coast this afternoon.
The man, from the state’s north, was travelling north of Granville Harbour near Four Mile Beach when the incident occurred around 3:20pm on Thursday.
He sustained chest injuries in the crash, police said.
Fellow riders in his group rushed to help, with an off-duty nurse among those who provided immediate assistance.
Emergency services were alerted by both a phone call and an EPIRB activation due to the area’s limited mobile coverage.

Police and paramedics made their way to the isolated coastal location while the rescue helicopter was dispatched.
The rider was stabilised at the scene before being airlifted to the Royal Hobart Hospital. His condition remains unclear.
Tasmania Police confirmed they are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
