A person has been seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle in central Launceston this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the incident on Charles Street around 1pm on Tuesday.

Tasmania Police said the person was taken to the Launceston General Hospital with serious injuries.
Charles Street is currently closed between Frederick and Canning streets.
“Motorists are asked to avoid the area to allow emergency services to attend the scene,” police said.
The circumstances of the crash are not yet known.
