Pig found on side of West Coast highway ‘locked up’ at Tasmania Police station

A pig found roaming on the side of a remote section of the Murchison Highway has been given a free ride to the local police station.

Tasmania Police say the pig was found in the Rosebery/Ring River area near Renison Bell on Thursday night.

It was then taken to the Zeehan Police Station, with a search for its owners now underway.

“If this is your pig, please call 131 444 to arrange collection – quote ESCAD 82-29122023,” police said.

It is unclear where the pig came from, however local residents have humorously accused it of “hogging the road” and “bacon for a lift”.
