A 16-year-old Tasmanian teenager has died after crashing his quad bike near Wynyard overnight.
Police were alerted to the missing rider yesterday afternoon after family members failed to locate him, with officers finding the teen down an embankment early this morning.

The incident is being investigated by crash investigators, with people asked to avoid the currently-closed Minnies Road and Smith Road area in Wynyard.
Anyone with any information, or who may have seen a red Honda quad bike in the area after 4pm on Wednesday, is asked to contact Police.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
