Police are investigating after a series of reported slingshot attacks damaged homes, businesses and vehicles across Tasmania’s north-west.
Officers have received 14 reports of damage between Burnie and Wynyard since Tuesday.
Acting Sergeant Ben Strong said police believed those responsible had used a slingshot to fire marbles and other projectiles at windows.
“The property destruction appears to be random and there was potential for harm to have been caused to members of the community through these acts,” he said.
“Everyone has the right to be safe in our community and this dangerous behaviour is concerning.”
The attacks have angered members of the local community.
An anonymous social media post condemned those responsible, saying they had caused real damage, cost and distress.
“Your behaviour is disgusting, pathetic and completely unacceptable,” the person wrote.
“Camera footage from multiple properties has already been handed to police, clearly showing the vehicle, make, model and registration.”
“It’s only a matter of time before you’re identified.”
Police are urging anyone with information or CCTV footage to come forward.
