A group of alleged teenage thieves have been charged with over 90 offences following a string of shop stealings across greater Hobart in the last month.
The four youths, aged between 13 and 16, allegedly stole a combined $8,525 worth of alcohol, clothes, cosmetics, perfume and electronics from several businesses.
Inspector Jason Klug said Moonah, New Town, Rosny, Sandy Bay, Glenorchy, North Hobart, Hobart and Lutana stores were targeted.
A 16-year-old boy arrested on Wednesday is facing multiple stealing charges and is being held in custody.
Two 13-year-old girls have also been charged.
One is facing six stealing charges and a bail offence, while the other is accused of ten stealing offences, three trespassing charges, one attempted stealing charge and 16 bail offences.
A 15-year-old boy is facing 13 stealing charges, one trespassing charge and 37 bail offences.
All were denied bail.
“Tasmania Police remains committed to protecting the community and local businesses by preventing and detecting anti-social and criminal behaviour to make public spaces safer,” Klug said.
“The community deserves to feel safe at home, in public and at work.”
Police nab teenager in $1,500 Hobart perfume theft investigation
Earlier: A teenage boy has been charged after allegedly stealing almost $1,500 worth of perfume from several Hobart businesses.
The 16-year-old was arrested on Wednesday following an investigation by officers from Taskforce Saturate.
Police allege the boy had been stealing perfume, as well as other items, from businesses in New Town, North Hobart and Glenorchy since November 4.
He will front the Hobart Youth Justice Court on several charges, including stealing, trespass and breach of bail.
