A partner at one of Hobart’s oldest law firms will stand trial in the Supreme Court on an assault charge after pleading not guilty.
Damien James Geason, 54, of Butler McIntyre and Butler, entered his plea in the Hobart Magistrates Court and was ordered to appear in the Supreme Court on October 13.
Geason was arrested at his Hobart office last month and was walked out in handcuffs by several officers.
He was charged with a total of eight offences at the time including one count of criminal code assault, one count of common assault and six counts of breaching a family violence order.
Police allege Geason assaulted a woman at Sandy Bay in June by punching her several times to the body, causing injuries including a fractured thumb.
After entering his not guilty plea, Geason was committed for trial in the Supreme Court.
