“There’s something about flowers and families that brings a lot of joy to people,” she told Pulse.

The couple grow around 3,000 peonies on about three-quarters of a hectare.

Dakis described the peony as “a very extravagant, luscious, romantic, blousey flower” with a short season.

She said the event was ticketed so the couple could keep numbers to around 100 people a session.

Dakis said visitors did not mind their ticket money going to Bonorong.

“They know that it’s going to a not-for-profit and, you know, it’s a Tasmanian organisation and they’re doing the most amazing conservation work,” she said.
