The Air Force Roulettes will fly over Tasmania’s north-west coast and Hobart this weekend, with the Hobart flights marking 86 years since the Battle of Britain.
Two Pilatus PC-21 aircraft are due over East Wynyard Beach around 12:30pm on Saturday.
Pilots Brodie Sweeney and David Burnard will then meet the public at Wynyard Airport, east of the terminal, from 1:15pm to 2:15pm.
In Hobart on Sunday, two Roulettes will fly a synchronised display and commemorative flypast over the city between 11:30am and 12pm.
The Battle of Britain was fought between July and October 1940, when Royal Air Force pilots held off a larger German Luftwaffe.
More than 30 Australians flew in the campaign. Of the 1,497 allied aircrew killed, 24 were Australian.
A remembrance service will be held at St David’s Cathedral in Hobart from 1:45pm on Saturday.
A service and wreath-laying will follow at the Hobart Cenotaph on the Queen’s Domain from 10:45am on Sunday, before the flypast.
The Air Force said the flying could change or be called off at short notice because of weather or air traffic and advised people to check its social media for schedule changes.
