UPDATE – 4 PM:
Police say a white dual-cab ute left the roadway and crashed into a tree while travelling south, near Hermitage Road this morning.
The driver and one passenger were treated for serious injuries at the scene by paramedics before being airlifted to the Royal Hobart Hospital by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
Three other passengers were treated for non-serious injuries at the scene.
The Tasman Highway was closed until shortly before 4pm, to allow emergency services to respond and conduct scene examinations, but is now open.
Police have thanked motorists for their patience and understanding.
EARLIER:
A serious crash has closed the Tasman Highway at Triabunna this morning.
The single-vehicle crash happened shortly before 10:30am and is currently blocking the highway near Hermitage Road.
The number of people injured and the severity of the injuries are not yet known.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter has been dispatched to the scene.
