Somebody Feed Phil host Phil Rosenthal dines around Hobart

American TV star Phil Rosenthal ropped into Hobart over the weekend, visiting several of the city’s best-known restaurants during his Tasmanian stopover.

Rosenthal is best known as the creator of the hit sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond and star of Netflix food and travel series Somebody Feed Phil.

He told the crowd at his show at the Odeon Theatre on Friday night that he’d eaten at Pitzi Pasta Bar just before the show and it had impressed him.

During a question and answer segment, an audience member recommended he try Bar Wa Izakaya.

He clearly took the advice.

On Saturday, Bar Wa Izakaya shared a photo of Rosenthal at their restaurant with chef Yoshalee Wood.

“Somebody finally fed Phil!!!” the restaurant posted on social media, alongside the snap of Wood with Rosenthal after dinner.

Rosenthal’s Netflix series Somebody Feed Phil has run for eight seasons and 49 episodes, making it one of the streaming platform’s longest-running food and travel shows.

He told the Hobart crowd the show was moving to YouTube to give fans free access.

He also hinted that Hobart was being considered for an upcoming episode.
