A P-plater who was reportedly detected travelling at more than 50km/h over the speed limit on the Bass Highway overnight has lost his licence.
The young P2 driver was allegedly detected speeding at 164km/h in a 110km/h zone through Sulphur Creek around 6:30pm on Thursday.

Police later intercepted the vehicle some 12km away in South Burnie.
“The driver was not displaying his green P plates as required and was given an infringement for both offences, as well as having his car clamped,” police said.
He was also disqualified from driving and fined more than $1,200.
