Greater Hobart will see major roads and highways closed this weekend when 1200 athletes participate in the Ironman 70.3 event.
The Bowen Bridge will be closed to traffic from 5:30 AM to midday on Sunday, while the Tasman Highway will have lane closures.
The TriClub Village and main event will take place at Salamanca and Parliament Lawns, with the swim leg starting from Brooke Street Pier, which will result in all surrounding roads being closed to traffic.
Morrison Street and Salamanca Wharf car parks will also be closed from Saturday night at 10 PM until 7 PM on Sunday night.
The Ironman 70.3 event consists of a 1.9 km swim, a 90 km bike ride, and a 21.1 km run.
The event is expected to bring a boost to the local economy and provide a fun and exciting atmosphere for the entire community.
With road closures in place, residents and visitors are advised to plan ahead and use alternate routes.
