Tasmanian disability and allied health charity St Giles has appointed Kathryn Berry as its new chief executive officer following a nationwide search.
Berry brings experience leading Hobart Private Hospital for seven years and in both not-for-profit and publicly owned settings.
St Giles chairman Mark Grey said Berry was a strong fit for the role.
“Kathryn’s appointment marks an important step forward for St Giles as it continues to strengthen its services and impact for the community,” Grey said.
“A respected and authentic leader, she is widely recognised for her ability to build trust, foster collaboration and deliver meaningful outcomes.”

Berry said she was honoured to take on the position.
“I am excited to work with the board, staff and stakeholders to build on the important work already underway at St Giles,” she said.
“I am particularly passionate about supporting teams, strengthening culture and ensuring we deliver the best possible outcomes for those we serve.”
Berry has a son with Down syndrome, giving her lived experience working with the NDIS and other support providers.
She is expected to start in July, replacing interim chief executive Stephen Brown, who stepped in earlier this year after former CEO Honni Pitt departed the role.
Pitt had been chief executive since April 2023 after joining the organisation as chief financial officer in 2020.
Grey thanked Brown for his work during the recruitment process.
“St Giles plays a vital role in supporting Tasmanians to live full and meaningful lives and its impact across the community is both profound and enduring,” he said.
“Kathryn’s leadership will be instrumental in strengthening our services, deepening our community impact and ensuring St Giles continues to thrive into the future.”
St Giles is one of Tasmania’s largest disability and allied health charities, supporting thousands of children and adults across the state through therapy, disability support and assistive technology services.
