Hobart soccer fans will get another chance to watch the Socceroos on the big screen of the Odeon this Friday when the venue streams Australia’s match against Paraguay.
In addition to the large high-definition screen in the Odeon, left over from Dark Mofo, another seven metre screen will be turned on in the Cathedral in The Hanging Garden precinct, which will allow for up to 1,500 people to watch the game together at the venues.
The game kicks off at midday, with doors opening from 11am.
Entry is free but limited by capacity on a first-come, first-served basis.

DarkLab’s Leigh Carmichael said tickets for the previous Socceroos screening sold out fast.
“Tickets were snapped up in about 40 minutes for the 5am match between Australia and the USA,” Carmichael said.

“With thanks to the ABC and City of Hobart we are able to also live stream the next match.”
He said this time there would be larger capacity with seated options indoors and some beanbags and standing room outdoors.
“It was a fantastic community atmosphere last time,” he said.
“Here’s hoping for similar, but with a better result for the Socceroos this time.”

The event is a collaboration between ABC Radio Hobart, DarkLab and the City of Hobart.
Many pubs around the state will also be showing the match, with the fan-friendly time of 12pm making it easier for venues to show the last group match of Australia’s World Cup campaign.
