A TasNetworks spokesperson said the damage has been caused by strong winds overnight.

“Restoration time is to be advised,” the spokesperson said.

Damage from fallen trees has caused the power outage

“Please stay at least 10 metres clear of any fallen power-lines or other damage.”

The outage comes as a cold front with widespread wind gusts in excess of 120km/h moves across the state.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for much of the south, east coast and Midlands forecast areas.
