A house is well alight in West Moonah this evening, with emergency services urging local residents to avoid the area due to toxic smoke.
Police and emergency services are at the scene in Karingi Court where Tasmania Fire Service crews are working to contain the blaze.
All occupants have been evacuated from the property.
Flames have been visible across the northern suburbs with smoke billowing into the air.

There is no risk to other properties in the area, police said.

A smoke alert has been issued for Karingi Court and surrounding areas.
People who do not need to be in the immediate area should stay away, the TFS said.
Residents nearby have been advised to avoid exposure to smoke by staying indoors, closing windows, vents and doors and turning heat pumps and air conditioners to recirculate or off.
