Suspicious 2am fire hits Devonport home while owners away

An early morning fire that tore through a Devonport home on Friday has been deemed as ‘suspicious’.

Police are currently investigating the blaze, which they say took hold at a property on Nicholls Street shortly after 2am.

Thanks to the help of nearby residents, firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly, Police say.

The exact cause of the fire and the total damage cost remain undisclosed at this time.

Fire investigators have determined that no one was home when the fire broke out and are appealing to anyone with information about the incident to contact Police at 131 444.
