Tasmania Police have charged four people with sexual offences and compliance breaches in a series of arrests across the state this week.
The charges came as part of ongoing monitoring operations by specialist detectives targeting reportable offenders.
In Southern Tasmania, a 57-year-old man was charged with rape and breaching parole conditions on Monday.
He has been returned to custody and will face the rape allegation in the Hobart Magistrates Court in August.
In a separate case, another Southern Tasmanian man, 62, faces two counts of rape dating back to 1996.
He has also been charged with failing to disclose reportable contact with a child, which is required under offender monitoring laws.
The 62-year-old was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on Monday.
In Northern Tasmania, compliance team detectives charged two additional reportable offenders with four counts of breaching their reporting obligations.
“Tasmania Police is committed to holding reportable offenders to account on behalf of victim survivors and the wider community,” Detective Sergeant Peter May said.
“Tasmania Police Community Protection Offender Reporting team is actively monitoring reportable offenders in the community to ensure compliance with their reporting obligations and reduce the risk of future offending.”
