Worksites throughout Hobart are undergoing colourful transformations, as local artists make the most of the opportunity put their work on display for all to see.

The first new ‘creative hoarding’ has been installed at Salamanca Place as a way to combine construction with art and beautify the otherwise ordinary work zones.

Huon Valley based artist Kat Scarlet was one of four artists chosen, with her work drawing inspiration from the  Hartz Mountains.

Over the course of a year, Scarlet immersed herself in the beauty of the mountains, capturing not only the lakes and tarns but also the intricate details of the alpine plateaus.

Scarlet wants to transport the viewer away from their everyday, city life and out to the beauty of the Tasmanian mountains.

“Having this opportunity was super exciting to have my work showcased like this in the city, around building sites is fantastic,” Scarlet said.

The trial will last for two years, with a goal of having artwork on every construction site across Hobart.
