Tasmanian musician Fiora Cutler has released the debut single from her upcoming musical Emotional Whiplash, a project filmed in Hobart with an all-local crew.
Cutler, who splits her time between Launceston and Los Angeles, is one of Hollywood’s most in-demand vocal producers and coaches.
She has prepared stars including Uma Thurman, Tilda Swinton, Lindsay Lohan and Jaafar Jackson for major roles across films such as Michael, One Love: The Bob Marley movie and Disney’s Freakier Friday.
Musical Emotional Whiplash centers on a career woman facing down her biological clock. The first single is titled Egg Freezing in America.
“I wrote this because I wanted women to feel seen and acknowledged in this epic complex life choice, we make to become mothers or not,” Cutler said.
“Sometimes it’s also not a choice. Sometimes it’s surreal and hilarious. Other times it’s sad. It’s a kind of emotional whiplash and we all – hold it all.”
As a musician, Cutler’s career spans electronic collaborations with artists like Armin van Buuren and Seven Lions, solo projects and classical composition.
She most recently worked as vocal coach and producer on the new Netflix movie Don’t Say Good Luck, coaching talent including star Sunny Sandler, daughter of Adam Sandler.
The musical stars US singer and songwriter Lauren Evans.
Evans brings significant credentials to the lead role.
She wrote chart-topping hits including One Step At A Time for American Idol alumni Jordin Sparks and Bad Boys for X-Factor winner Alexandra Burke.
She holds two Emmy nominations, a Latin Grammy nomination and an ASCAP Latin Award.
On stage, Evans has appeared as a featured artist with rock legend Mick Fleetwood and performed as a background vocalist for Chaka Khan, Tears For Fears and Natasha Bedingfield.
