Tasmanians have proven themselves to be the best at hitting the snooze button on holiday, according to a new study.

The BIG4 Holiday Parks survey of 2,000 holidaymakers revealed that 84% of Tasmanians preferred to sleep in, ahead of the national average of 74%.

The study also found that 89% of Tasmanians prefer quiet time over socialising at holiday parks, a significantly higher result than all other states.

Most Tassie travellers are likely to avoid sports activities while away from home and instead opt to lounge around in the sun.

80% of Tasmanians would chat to a stranger at a holiday park, with 90% saying it’s only polite to acknowledge other park visitors when you see them.

BIG4 Holiday Parks Chief Executive Sean Jenner

BIG4 Holiday Parks Chief Executive Sean Jenner said the survey helps the company refine their holiday park experience across the country.

“We’ve delved into the nuances of how people choose to holiday, their habits and preferences … and we are committed to enhancing our offerings in alignment with changing trends,” he said.

“Whether you’re interested in a beach, mountain, bush or outback getaway, we encourage people to … experience for themselves what makes our parks so popular with holiday makers.”
