‘Extensively damaged’: Woman rushed to hospital after serious crash near Brighton

Updated 9:30pm, Sunday 3 December: A woman has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after crashing her car just minutes from Brighton on Sunday afternoon.

Police say the 37-year-old was the only person in the black XR6 Falcon sedan when it left Tea Tree Road around 3:45pm.

Investigators suspect that the woman may have travelled from Triabunna on the East Coast prior to the crash and ask any other motorists who may have witnessed the incident or have dashcam footage to come forward.

The vehicle was left “extensively damaged” following the crash, while the woman remains in the Royal Hobart Hospital in a serious condition.

Tea Tree Road intersection near Brighton blocked following serious crash

A serious crash has closed a section of Tea Tree Road in Brighton this afternoon.

Emergency services are currently at the scene of the crash, which occurred near the intersection of Tea Tree Road and Back Tea Tree Road, around 4km from Brighton on Sunday.

Police say the road has been reduced to a single lane and they anticipate it will remain blocked for the next few hours.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
