A 17-year-old learner rider has had his motorcycle seized for nearly a month after police caught him travelling at twice the speed limit on the Bass Highway.
The teenager was pulled over by officers from Taskforce Scelus near Turners Beach on Wednesday afternoon.
He was allegedly clocked at 160km/h in what police described as “incredibly dangerous” behaviour.
The young rider was exceeding his learner licence speed limit by 80km/h and wasn’t displaying the required L-plates.
Police also found his motorcycle had an unroadworthy tyre.

His Honda was impounded on the spot and taken away on a tow truck for 28 days.
He is expected to face court at a later date on charges including excessive speed, failing to display L-plates and riding with defective equipment.
“The behaviour of this rider was incredibly dangerous,” police said.
“Excessive speed, combined with inexperience, could have resulted in death or serious injury for the rider and other road users.”
“Police urge all motorcycle riders to take responsibility for their actions every time they travel on the roads and do the right thing to keep themselves and other road users safe.”
