Ulverstone’s famous war memorial clock went silent last night as the Centre Coast Council turn it off for “future repairs”.
The clock, located on Reibey Street, stopped at 6pm on Saturday to allow for repairs to be carried out.

The Council say the ladder, used to change the time mechanism at the top of the structure, was found to be “no longer safe to use” during routine inspections.
Short and long-term solutions will be explored next week to restore the time “soon as we are able”.
