Two arrested after alleged motorcycle theft leads to crash and car fire

Two people have been arrested after an alleged attempt to steal a motorcycle in the Hobart CBD this afternoon.

Police were called around 1:45pm after the pair reportedly fled the scene in a stolen white Ford Courier utility.

A significant police response was launched, but before officers arrived the vehicle collided with another car driven by a member of the public at the intersection of Risdon Road and the Brooker Highway.

The stolen vehicle then left the scene.

No injuries were reported from the crash.

Shortly after, reports came in of a vehicle on fire in Milbourn Place, Glenorchy.

Police searched the area and located the two alleged offenders, who are now in custody.
