An “uncontrollable bushfire” north of Triabunna is putting a properties at ‘high risk’ right now, with people in the area of Little Swanport being told to prepare to evacuate.
The Watch and Act rated fire is travelling South East of the Tasman Highway including Saltworks Road, Little Swanport and surrounding areas.
“Embers, smoke, and ash may fall on Tasman Highway, Saltworks Road, Little Swanport and surrounding areas and threaten you and your home before the main fire arrives,” say authorities.
“Tasmania Fire Service is attending. Conditions are expected to be changeable.”
What to do:
If you have prepared your home and can actively defend it, it should provide shelter.
If you are going to leave, make sure you have a clear path to a safer place.
If your family has made a bushfire plan, use it now.
If you do not live near Tasman Highway, Saltworks Road, Little Swanport and surrounding areas, stay away.
