An unlicensed, drunk and dangerous driver has had his car spiked after he sped past Police at 119km/h on the Murchison Highway yesterday.
Police allege the man in his 30s sped off when Zeehan officers detected his 2000 green Holden Commodore sedan travelling at 119 km/h in a 100km/h zone around 1:50pm.
The man is alleged to have then ‘driven dangerously’ before he was stopped with spikes on the Ridgley Highway and found with various drugs and drug equipment.
He will appear in the Burnie Magistrates Court today on 13 charges, including ‘recklessly discharging a missile to the danger of another person’ and using a controlled drug.
“We want to thank those motorists who stopped to assist police, and encourage any other motorists travelling on the Murchison and Ridgley Highway at the time who may have witnessed this vehicle to come forward,” Acting Sergeant Jeremy Williams said.
