Kingston Police are on the hunt for a burglar or burglars targeting homes, a shed and car in the area over the past two weeks.
Inspector Colin Riley said despite a 32% drop in total offences in the area compared to the same time last year, there has been an “uncommon pattern” of burglaries in recent days.
Several properties have been broken into in Blackmans Bay, Tinderbox and Kingston in the past week, with jewellery, laptops, power tools and electrical items stolen.
All of the home burglaries are believed to have occurred during the workday.
A vehicle parked on Wells Parade in Blackmans Bay was also broken into overnight on Wednesday, with a credit card and gift voucher stolen.
“Investigators are seeking any information from the public that might assist with apprehending the person or people responsible for these matters,” Riley said.
“Importantly, police are requesting that members of the public remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police, particularly in these areas.”
“We are confident that we will apprehend this offender or offenders and bring this crime pattern to a conclusion quickly.”
Kingston is actively policed through day and afternoon shifts, but relies on complete 24-hour response from offices based 15 minutes away at the Hobart Police Station.
