Vehicle fire on Hobart’s Southern Outlet causing major traffic delays

A vehicle fire on Hobart’s Southern Outlet is causing major traffic delays this afternoon, with traffic backing up to the Mount Nelson turn-off.

The incident occured around 3pm about half way down the stretch of road heading towards Kingston.

No injuries have been reported.

“Police are at the scene of a vehicle fire on the Southern Outlet, after the Mount Nelson turn-off, heading towards Kingston,” police said.

“Significant traffic delays are occurring, and motorists are asked to avoid the area until the scene is cleared.”

“No injuries have been reported.”

Drivers have been urged to avoid the area while emergency crews work to clear the scene.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
